Today was a good day. Eli kept us up for most of the early hours of the day. I’m pretty sure that’s a right of passage for most parents, though. We are definitely proud members of the no sleep club. Consequently, we are also now proud owners of a 4moms momma roo. This handy little device is something we swore we‘d never purchase, but after one night of bouncing Eli around the apartment, it’s money very well spent.
Eli had his first doctors appointment today, and everything checked out. The doctor told us she‘d like to see us again in two weeks for his one month checkup, and it suddenly hit me. We spent the better part of 2 weeks in the NICU, and in just a couple of weeks, he will already be a month old.
Eli also got his first round of visitors tonight. He seemed to tolerate it quite well, but I still think we made the right choice in spreading out his visitors. Over the coming weeks, we will be visited by friends and family as they all get their opportunity to meet this little dramatic bundle of joy.
I finally got around to calling and making my first appointment as well. Unpacking the first 5 days of Eli’s life isn’t going to be the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s the right thing to do. We can’t move forward until we let go of the past, and I’m ready to move forward.
